Abacus Art
Why is it that I’m so surprised and therefore feel compelled to tell people about a good customer service experience?? I guess it’s because they seem rare these days. I’m not naturally cynical - if anything I often make excuses for poor service in the interest of keeping the peace. But I recently had a fantastic retail experience i’d like to share.
Abacus Art came to the rescue when i had a very urgent picture framing job. Sounds odd i know - not often does one have urgent picture framing jobs. But this framed photo was to be a 30th birthday pressie for a dear friend in sydney and it had to be done in 24 hours. Due to a not so good customer service experience with the photographer (i won’t name them - they’re not local!) i had to wait 10 extra days for the photo, hence the urgency around the framing.
With a smile and a gentle nature, Abacus Art said “yes, no problems at all. We’ll shift some other jobs around to ensure we get it done in time for you”, then recommended the best and most cost-effetive frame and matt they had in stock and said they’d wrap it up for me for pickup the next morning.
I love it when businesses get it right.

Monster Pizza
You know what it’s like when you first move into a house and you’re tired, grumpy, dirty and hungry? all those people who promised they’d help have slunk away quietly and left you with boxes from one end of the house to the other and nothing to eat or drink? Well this is exactly how it was the day i discovered Monster Pizza on High Street in Ashburton….
They’re the fastest pizza makers i’ve ever met, friendly and cheap, and they create the most delectable pizza i’ve had in a long while. My husband is more a pizza conoisseur than i and even he reckons they rock. Particular note should be taken of the BBQ Chicken pizza with mushroom AND pineapple….ahhh…it continues to hit the spot, months after that first tired hot encounter…

My lovely new hubby and i are having a seachange - perhaps somewhat earlier in life than most…
Due to work and a desire to start our new life together in a new place we’ve decided to hit the coast - the Mornington Peninsula to be exact. We’re very much looking forward to the fresh air, the sunsets, the long walks along the beach…i sound like a dating ad!
It’s going to be fab to set up a home office and take lunch breaks on the beach (I promise i won’t abuse that privilege!)
I look forward to creating a new nook…
